As we have reported the river is completely open as well as the tributaries. The water is open all the way past pine island. Heading into the final 7 days of the season walleye will finish out the year strong. Water clarity is getting better even with the much-needed rain we’ve been experiencing. Our water levels will also improve with the current weather. Bright colored 3/8 – 1/2oz jig heads tipped with a minnow continue to do the trick.
Sturgeon fishing continues to be in the phenomenal category. If you never tried your hand at sturgeon, you should consider it. One of the simplest setups in fishing. Anchor just upstream of a deep hole on the river and use about 50# test line rigged with a 1/2oz to 1oz weight and 4/0 hook tipped with a wad of worms. Let the rig find the bottom and get ready to have the fight of your life.
